FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – The Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra proudly celebrates its 25th year of bringing classical music to Fort Bend County, presented in an approachable, family-friendly manner.  For this anniversary year, FBSO offers its most ambitious season, filled with guest artists, special compositions and familiar favorites.  Special season pricing for the four-concert subscription series is available through October 9 for renewing and new subscribers.  Joining the orchestra for this anniversary season is the new FBSO Chorus, the first symphonic chorus in Fort Bend County. 

Dominique Røyem, FBSO’s music director, has put together a stellar anniversary season of performances.  “From familiar, beloved jazz to new works commissioned from young Texas composers, the 25th Anniversary season celebrates all that is unique about our wonderful area and the talented musicians who play and live here.”

The 2016-2017 FBSO subscription season performances include: 

  • Rhapsody in Blue – Sunday, October 9, 2p, Stafford Centre

    • FBSO opens its 25th season with a program of jazzy classical music, featuring Gershwin’s most famous work, Rhapsody in Blue, with award-winning piano soloist Tali Morgulis.

  • Deck the Halls – Sunday, December 4, 2p Stafford Centre 

    • The joy of the holidays rings out in every note!  Heartwarming holiday selections, The Night Before Christmas, and the FBSO Handcrafted Market make this concert FBSO’s most popular. 

  • Texas, Our Texas – Sunday, February 19, 2017, 2 p, Stafford Centre

    • FBSO is proud to present this program showcasing new works by Texas composers and performances by artists from our great state of Texas, including the winners of the FBSO and HTMA concerto competitions. Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

  • Carmina Burana – Sunday, May 21, 2017, 2 p, 

    • The Fort Bend arts community lifts their voices in song for the season finale, featuring Orff’s masterpiece.  The new FBSO Chorus and the incomparable Fort Bend Boys Choir help to conclude the 25th anniversary season.

  • Hauntcert – Saturday, October 29, Sugar Land Town Square – FREE! 

    • FBSO’s Halloween tradition is back!  Put the family in costumes, grab your lawn chairs and join FBSO for a howlingly good time with spooky, spine-tingling music for all ages.

  • The Composer is Dead – Saturday, April 1, 2017, 2 p.m., George Memorial Library, Richmond 

    • This year’s children’s concert features words by Lemony Snicket in this work by Nathaniel Stookey. The murder mystery peeks into all corners of the orchestra, looking for the culprit. 

  • Let Freedom Ring! – July 4, 2017, 7 p.m. Stafford Centre – FREE!

    • The annual patriotic concert celebrating our nation’s independence, filled with stirring marches and patriotic themes. 

All four subscription performances will be held at the Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Road in Stafford, where there is no charge for parking. Venues information can be found on our venue page here.

Season Ticket Information  

The four-concert series for FBSO’s 2016-17 season is available for summer subscribers at a special price of $112 – 160 (box seats), $72 – 104 (orchestra seats) $56 – 76 (mezzanine seats) and $40 – 56 (balcony seats). There is a 10% discount for seniors 55 and over and military, with a 5% discount for all other adult packages.  Season ticket prices for middle and high school students (aged 13 – 18) are $40.  Children 2 and under are free when accompanied by an adult, but must have a ticket, and season tickets for children 3 – 12 are priced at $20.
