Meet the Guest Artist: Seoyoung “Trinity” Yun

Seoyoung Trinity Yun won the 2019 HMTA Concerto Competition in the Junior Division.


Seoyoung “Trinity” Yun is a fifth grader at Roberts Elementary School. She is a recipient of the Ford Scholarship at the International Music Academy, where she has been the student of Katarina Loudermilk since the age of seven. 

In 2018, Trinity won the first prize in the Texas State Young Artists Piano Competition and honorable mention in the Tenth International Chopin Youth Competition. In 2017, she won the first prize in the Southern Chopin International Piano Competition and third prize in the Rochelle Liebling Kahan Memorial Fund Competition for Child Piano Prodigies. She has performed piano in great venues including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and the Match Performance Center. 

Besides music, she loves swimming, dancing, and reading books. She was the school representative for the “Name That Book” competition in 2016, 2018, and 2019. She often applies stories from books to piano play in order to improve her expressiveness. She also participates in the school math team for the Math Olympiad. She wants to study brain science and music so that she can communicate with people through piano, emotionally and intellectually.
