Noam Faingold composed the work “Impressions of Manuela Saenz,” Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra for the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra and soloist Lia Uribe in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month 2018.
Noam Faingold (b. 1984) is a composer, lecturer, curator, and performer whose music has been described as “…lyrical…”, “…exhilarating…”, and “…a tour-de-force…” by sources as varied as The New York Times, Anoushka Shankar for The BBC, Downbeat Magazine, and others.
Commissions include TEDx, International Double Reed Society, and Conductor Andrés Franco and Tulsa Signature Symphony. Performance highlights include New York Philharmonic oboist Rob Botti, Pacific Symphony concertmaster Dennis Kim, the Aspen festival, orchestras and ensembles in London, Paris, New York City, Boston, Finland, and Sweden, and working closely with Signature Symphony and the family of 20th century poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko in The Defiant Poet: An Elegy for Yevgeny Yevtushenko.
Faingold has held music fellowships through the Salzburg Global Seminar, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, and The Bowdoin International Music Festival, and holds a PhD in Music Composition from King’s College London. He works extensively with regional arts organizations like the Mid-America Arts Alliance/AHHA Tulsa’s “Artist Inc.” artist mentorship program, the Music Teachers National Association Oklahoma chapter as its 2016 commissioned composer, member of the Commissioned Composer Committee, and as Composition Competition judge. He is the Composer-in-Residence for Oklahoma State University Cellofest, curates the annual OK Electric Festival, was the Artistic Director of London’s inaugural i = u festival, and has worked as orchestrator/arranger with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, Lester Lynch and the San Francisco Opera Choir at Skywalker Ranch Studios, and the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey/Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra at the OK Mozart Festival.
Faingold currently serves on the music faculties of the University of Tulsa and Tulsa Community College, is the Director of the Barthelmes Conservatory college preparatory program at The bART Center for Music, and directs the composition programs at TCC, the bART, and TU’s summer Composition Seminar.
